Butterfly Grid is an evolution of the “Mirror Mirror on the Wall” concept, embodying the journey from surveillance to freedom. The diamond-shaped rattan weaving elegantly frames a meticulous grid-like network, symbolizing the foundation that each individual builds to undergo metamorphosis, much like a butterfly.

After relocating from Singapore back to Austria, the artist removed the camera from the original concept, shedding the sense of constant monitoring. Instead, a microwave sensor triggers the LED rings, signifying a newfound sense of liberation and control.

The silver frame reflects self-awareness, while the LED rings illuminate the intricate pattern, symbolizing growth and transformation. The grid-like network invites viewers to explore a landscape of interconnected beauty, mirroring the journey of personal growth where every individual builds their foundation to emerge as a butterfly.
